Applied Transcultural Nursing: Summer Tour Program (6 Contact Hours)
Course Description
Are you traveling abroad this summer? Take a deeper look at the culture of your host country and earn continuing education contact hours during your trip. Our applied Transcultural Nursing CE course will give you the tools to be an "ethnographic observer and interviewer" while you visit as a tourist in the Bahamas or anywhere else in the world. Register and download the worksheet before or during your trip. Complete the worksheet during your trip and log in to submit your work upon your return. You will be able to download your CE certificate upon completion of course requirements.
Intended Audience:
1. Nurses who are traveling to another culture as tourists. 2. Nurses who are going abroad as part of medical missions. 3. Nurses who are assigned to work in another culture such as military or international nurses. 4. Nurses who travel to culturally distinct communities in the United States.
By the end of this program, the participant would be able to:
1. Discuss Leininger's Sunrise Model of transcultural nursing. 2. Apply the Sunrise Model in understanding the worldviews of health and health care practices of another culture. 3. Conduct informal ethnographic observation and interviews while traveling in another culture. 4. Document the social and cultural factors uncovered during your observation and interviews.
